Those of you who follow me know of my love of supporting people on Kickstarter, well this time is no different. The wonderfully sweet and talented has put together an all-ages RPG, and looking for funding (with some awesome art by and ).

The goal to fund the publication of the Kalijor RPG core books. "The game is kind of unique in that it's designed in layers or levels, to allow kids 4-7 to play with parents, then a more complex version is available for kids 7-14, and then the full version for older kids/adults. All using the same rules." (to quote the author).

So… if you didn't know about this fun bit of stupid, I had this admirer, he went by the name mcherry1. I vented one day and he promptly raided my journal with shit like "Lesbians hate men!!" and "LGBT brainwashes kids to follow a Satanist commie agenda!". I wound up pulling the journal just to calm shit down, and he responded with this.




Cut to 6 months later, he's pissed off enough people on DA that he's run off with his tail between his legs. So much for a "proud warrior of God".

I need to vent. I stumbled across someone's tumblr earlier, and I see this huge list of "privileges" that this person has and doesn't have in the great socially enlightened spectrum. I realized two things.

One, I'm sorry, but I can't live that way, spending every moment of my life worried that I'm going to oppress another person, just by living. It's bad enough that on a daily basis I have to talk myself into continually exist, dwelling on the fact that my white skin tone is hurting someone else would just make me eat a bullet.

Secondly, and I know this makes me a hypocrite, as a person without a physically defined sex, the idea of a cisgendered person being "genderfluid/genderqueer" is painful. The fact that nature stuck you with a perfectly functioning XX/XY chromosome set, and you play with gender as if it were a costume to play with. It hurts. I don't get the luxury of going "I'm going to be a woman today", I get the "Oh, are you really a guy or a girl?" or "Can you get yourself pregnant?"

It takes everything in my power to keep myself alive, so, if I offend someone by my actions or words, I truly apologize. I wish I could be a better person, but I'm selfish, I worry about my place in reality, I worry that one day another person it going to try and "fix me" with their dick, words, or actions.

     Happy holidays, everybody! This year, I'm giving myself the non-denominational winter holiday gift of… running away from home! I'm going back out to Connecticut to bug Joe for a week or four. We'll probably end up visiting New York City at a minimum, and probably Boston so I can giggle at the lack of Rs. Since I don't want to end up stuck anywhere because I can't afford the train ticket back to New Haven, though… COMMISSION SALE!

     For the first five people who sign up, I'm going to knock close to 20% off the price of a single character commission. That's right, for a limited time, custom art can be yours for only $50. But… the luck doesn't stop there for those lucky five who get in the door first. For this set of commissions only, I'll be teaming up with so that you can pick from one of THREE different commission options:
1. A traditional commission of mine, with one character on a minimal background, rendered in full color.
2. A custom journal skin with a piece of my art included in a horizontal layout. Think something like this, with the image of your favorite character along the top.
3. A custom journal skin with a piece of my art included in a vertical layout. Something like Joe's journal, for instance, with an image of your favorite character running down the left or right side of the journal. Preferably left; he tells me that's easier to code.

I think I'm taking a day off from DA/tumblr/facebook today. I'm already tired of the bombardment of "Remember the fifth of november" shit, and it's only 3am. I'll be on aim/messages/gtalk for my friends, but I'm just going to draw and play Halo 4. I'll see you all after I vote on tuesday morning.

Once again, this is a straight copypasta of HTML code from 's journal to mine because I may be drawing it but he's organizing it. So I'm still not turning into Gambit and referring to myself in the third person. Just saving time by borrowing something written about me rather than writing up something from scratch…

As previously mentioned, I wanted to have do another piece for Blue Belle 2012 but money was a bit of an issue for me after previous commissions, school and personal expenses, and so forth and so on. So I launched a ChipIn so that fans of her work - and mine, for that matter - could get involved. Here's where we stand at present:

Four Character (Thrúd, Amora, Aphrodite, Mórrígan) Version: $105 FULLY FUNDED
Six Character (above plus Kára and Göndul the Valkyries) Version: $135 FULLY FUNDED
We Mail Everyone an Autographed Print: $200 (raised $135 - 67.5% funded)

So, we're at the point where things are going to begin moving forward art-wise, but there's still time to donate if you want to get in on the autographed print part. If that's you? Head on over to the ChipIn; all contributors of $10 USD or more - from the first $10 to the last - will be mailed a print of Gathering of Goddesses autographed by Lexi.

Status of different facets of Gathering of Goddesses:
Thrúd: Will probably going to do a sketch of her tonight or tomorrow.
Amora: Will probably going to do a sketch of her tonight or tomorrow. Don't need to do much; we take a lot from the Sylvie Lushton version of the Enchantress from the Young Masters.
Aphrodite: Preliminary design done.
Mórrígan: Preliminary design done.
Göndul: Her design will remain largely intact from an earlier piece of Blue Belle art. We're just going to swap the panties for brown leather pants and then design some boots for her if needed.
Kára: Will probably going to do a sketch of her tonight or tomorrow. With the joke in Blue Belle and Dansende Ekorn og Andre Dumheter being that she bears a striking resemblance to Power Girl, we're going to try and work up a design that blends the design elements of Thrúd and Göndul with classic Power Girl costuming.
Location Scouting: and I are going down to Manhattan on 10/06/2012 to visit the Irish Hunger Memorial, which will serve as the setting for the piece. The virtual tours aren't really good enough for us, so we're gonna go and wander around. Find a nice angle, ponder the positions of the characters, et cetera. Take a whooooole bunch of pictures with my 50D. Then walk over to the Hudson River, flip off New Jersey, and run away.
Gesture Sketches: Might be completed as soon as this Saturday afternoon or evening; might do these on-site or on the train home at the end of the day.
Final piece: Obviously not started yet.

For those of you who've read my fanfic over the years, you know that does art for a lot of them. Thing is, she can't do freebies for me any more than she can do free art for others. Because when she does freebies, she isn't earning money that she needs for things like rent, food, health insurance, medication... you know, important stuff. I've foot the bill for a few pieces recently, but since my readers - and some people who are just fans of her - enjoy them too, I decided to give you all the opportunity to contribute.

Gathering of Goddesses will be a companion to Chapter 36 - or so; I'm still figuring out the story outline - of Blue Belle 2012. Depending on how well we do raising money, the following characters will appear:
Thrúd Thordóttir ($60): I've already posted a bit about Thrúd on my Tumblr. Yes, there are some very obviously Loki-esque design elements in there. Yes, she is indeed Thor's daughter. Yes, that unusual combination will be explained in Chapter 36.
Amora the Enchantress ($75): If you don't know who Amora is, you're probably very new to Marvel because she's been a comic staple since 1964 and appears in Super Hero Squad and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. We'll probably use one of her modern comic costumes… or maybe Lexi will come up with something that blends the best bits of a few costumes into something awesome. Don't know yet.
Currently Raised: $75.00 USD
Aphrodite Ourania ($90): For some reason, Marvel's actually got Venus and Aphrodite running around as separate entities on Earth-616. Considering how one-note Aphrodite is in Marvel, we'll likely end up blending the canon character, classic mythology, and modern fashion when we do our version.
The Mórrígan ($105): Since Marvel's never touched on Irish mythology, there's no canon equivalent to compare and contrast her with. Never the less, given her interest in the mythology of all cultures, Lexi has a few different ideas for how we might develop her for both Blue Belle as a whole and this piece in particular.

If we hit the $105 target before the end of the year, I'll up the goal to $135 and we'll also get:
Göndul ($120): Göndul actually dates back to the original 2010 version of Blue Belle and has been drawn once already. Granted it was for a scene involving artistic nudity for an art class, so her wardrobe is subject to change, but the basic idea is there.
Kára ($135): Think DC's Power Girl, just as a valkyrie. Yeah. I'm drooling too.

Since too many cooks spoil the soup and too many characters spoil a piece, and I have decided what we're going to do if we raise over $135 USD and people still feel generous. Rather than tacking on more and more characters - which I'd then have to write into the scene this piece is for - we're going to take a cue from Top Cow's recent Kickerstarter for Cyber Force and offer a physical incentive. If we can hit not only the $105 USD target that'll pay for the basic four goddess piece (Thrúd/Amora/Aphrodite/Mórrígan), but go on to blow through the $135 USD "goddesses and valkyries" target too? We'll tweak the ChipIn to aim for $200 USD. And if by some miracle people are feeling that generous? Drunk Lexi Vent! (Okay, only mildly buzzed at best…) Over the past month, I've had many friends come to me and tell me that they have female friends who either have crushes on me, or idolize my art, or want to chat me up, or whatever. Only a couple have actually talked to me and it was "Hi" "…OMG…hi…*ninja vanish!*"

I've had friends and exes have claimed I'm intimidating. It kind of upsets me. I guess people take my shyness as some kind of deep brooding or something. I know I'm a giant amazon, but… yeah, not inside. I'm just quiet. I'm sorry if that and my stature make me seem intimidating. I don't mean to seem stand-offish. I guess everyone expects me to be the great lesbian knight, but I can't.

I hate being me sometimes. I hate this tower I seem to be trapped in. I just want to be the one who gets rescued.

I'm so fucking tired of the Social Justice Brigade saying that a woman embracing her sexuality, is somehow anti-feminist. Really?

You people are painfully stupid, our sexuality is what's been used against us since the beginning of civilization. Oppressors use words like slut, harlot, hoe, et all. to make us humiliated about our bodies, our sexuality, and our desires. It kills me, in the early ERA movement (yes dearies, women have been fighting for equality for longer than you've been alive), reclaiming our sexuality was one of the core tenants.

I wear sexually provocative clothing, I do it because that is what I want. I hear other women whisper "slut" behind my back, most of them call themselves "feminists". They cloak their bodies, cover their forms in some kind of sick shame in being a beautiful woman.

I am a proud woman, a Scot, a lesbian, a member of the BDSM community. I proudly wear my sexuality on my sleeve, because my body is mine. I know I'll get hate for this, but y'know what, good. That means it pissed you off, it got into your head, and maybe one night while you're sitting there pondering who really has the power, you'll remember that you do. Not any man.

I bought a commission a while back, and well, was disappointed.

So then, I took a chance, and commissioned someone else, someone who's art I adore. She was having financial problems at the time, so I was happy to help. Two months pass, no sketches, nothing. Then suddenly, my commission is on DA, and I feel terrible, because I'm amazingly disappointed with it.

I don't want to be an ungrateful bitch, but I feel like I am, no matter what.

It's been 51 hours and I still don't have power. I may not have power until July 8th, for some bizarre reason, despite people near me having power. I have the ability to charge my laptop and phone at work and my relatives' houses, and limited Internet via my iPhone, but I won't be doing any art - or writing - until service is restored to my house. For my commissioners, I'm sorry. I can't do anything short of pack up my iMac and I doubt my grandmother wants that sitting in her living room for a few days. For my readers, I'm sorry. Mid-90s days and sticky, sleeplessness nights do not make for good writing.

But in the words of Uncle Bob…

UPDATE (7/4, midnight-ish): Well, on top of what Joe filled you in on… visited the house and the big tree that fell across the wires was gone. However, with it gone and the wires repaired, it's quite visibly apparent that there's severe damage to the transformer on the pole. And even if they replaced the transformer (which there's a shortage of due to the immense amount of damage across a swath of the country), the power is still cut to the area as they work on major chunks of the town's power grid. So… still looking like 7/8 or later for my return.

UPDATE (7/4, 3:09 PM): My uncle works for AEP and it looks like we're getting pushed back further. Not because of equipment or personnel shortage. No, get this. It turns out crews are being rerouted to Columbus because rich dickbags can't manage to keep their power usage to reasonable levels until the grid is fully repaired and keep overloading sections of it, undoing the work that's been done. So now the crews are being sent to just hammer the area and get it all done because they're tired of having to go back and do it. Our new ETA for electricity? 7/12. So I've retrieved my iMac from home, set it up where I'm hiding out, and will be stealing Internet from my grandmother's slightly more technologically advanced neighbors. Which means yes, commissions are moving forward again, although I can't promise dipshits in my area won't pull a Columbus and knock our power back out.

So, I've got a new "fan". He has started a wonderful comment thread on Tidal Pull about how, and I quote; "still why the weird lesbian shit are people that fucked up in the head, its a cartoon show". I'm noticing this is a growing thing with teen/20-something boys. They're popping up and commenting on femslash work in various groups I'm in, and ranting about how dare we get lesbian in their precious cartoons/books/movies/games/etc. It amazes me, in a world where there are very few canon gay characters in most mainstream work, that people want to deny our own creative things. I'm sure if I were to do something akin to Katara/Zuko, or Luna/Harry, or any other straight pairing we'd het to grief.

As much as we femslash, it's not changing your precious whatever. If you close your web browser and turn on said property, you'll still get your safe and comfortable straight pairings. Most of us who femslash (or even slash), do it because we have so few LGBT characters to enjoy in media. So we generally have to scrape any subtext laying around to construct something for us. Hell, I've read fanfics where people have straightened Apollo and Midnighter of the Authority, where they've made either Hulkling or Wiccan into biological females to make the canon pairing straight. It just feels sometimes that these people think if they beat people down who make them uncomfortable enough, we'll go away.
