The Caprican Centurions first attempt at contacting the Colonial Fleet spooked them and they try another method to gain contact when they meet up with unexpectedly with their deranged brethren..

-Excerpt-

As strikestar group five-seven exited from their last FTL-jump, their twenty-first since they were despatched from Fifth Fleet, it took a few moments for them to reorient after a jump. FTL-jumps were exceedingly unpleasant for humans, but it had effects on centurions and other systems as well. Jump drives played havoc with all electronic systems, with static, white noise and erratic readings as a result. Once the interference cleared, dradis revealed five large super-capitals in the distance.

They had been jumping across the cluster, to the last known positions of various colonial battle groups. As of yet they had only found empty space and stellar dust. Command Intelligence, Battlegroup Operations, CIBO, focused on the dradis readout, showing that the contacts were moving under their own power and had electronic emissions, confirming that they were manned spacecraft and not asteroids or other stellar debris. The warbook couldn’t get a possible or even partial identification on the craft, but with a fifty year old warbook it wasn’t strange.
...
…this is strikestar group five-seven, to unknown colonial unit, please respond…”

Number six glanced at the other models gathered in the control room of the basestar. The colonial officer on the other end of the wireless repeated the message, the speakers giving his voice a slightly syntethic tone.

“Odd, intelligence indicated battlestar group nine-eight was tasked with patrolling this sector.” She said to her gathered brothers and sisters. She placed her hand on the control panel, and dove into the data stream. Data in its purest form swept across her mind, strings of ones and zeroes flashing together to form the deployment schedule of the entire colonial fleet. SSG-Five-Seven was supposed to be in orbit near Picon.

“Does it matter? Our intelligence is based on six months old preliminary colonial deployment schedules, there’s bound to be some differences and revisions.” A number eight said and leaned against the console.]
