Description

Feeling distinctly naked without any shadows or cover to conceal her, Rachel's bright red eyes flicked back and forth as she took in her surroundings. When Oliver's satellites had picked up an incoming object, she'd quickly been selected to investigate based on necessity: he and Batman were too busy at the time, and they wanted to avoid putting one of the group's three aliens near a potential extraterrestrial who could prove to be an enemy of their species.

Hopefully, it wouldn't turn out to be an enemy of HER species.

Turning in a slow circle, she frowned. As best she could tell, she was standing in the exact center of the impact crater, but whatever she'd been sent to investigate was gone. "Raven to Chloe. I'm right on top of the coordinates, right?"

"You're about ten centimeters off, but that's close enough for government work." Chloe Sullivan's voice paused and then became petulant. "And I thought we'd agreed I got a cool name too. What's the point of picking one if you guys aren't going to use it?"

Rachel rolled her eyes and shuffled a step to the side, using the scorch marks to guess which direction she was a bit off in. "Fine. Watchtower, if I'm at the coordinates… why am I the only one here?"

"I don't know what to tell you, Raven. You're now off by less than two centimeters, and I'm reading that the heat signature is… right on top of you, actually." Chloe pondered that. "Maybe a burrower?"

Right on top of her? Rachel tilted her head back and found herself staring up at a very orange girl who was staring back down at her. "Or a flier. I found her. Raven out." After spending another minute or so staring upward, Rachel waved nervously. "Uh, hi. My name is Raven. Or Rachel. Rachel Roth." The flying girl blinked a few times. "Can you come down here?" She blinked again. "You." Rachel pointed to emphasize the word. "Come down." She lowered her arm slowly. "Here?" She pointed at the ground.

While the new arrival may or may not have spoken English, she certainly managed to understand pantomime. Floating down, the girl touched down lightly and continued to stare at Rachel with eerie, bright green eyes. They were almost solid green… her 'whites' were a shade of green almost identical to the irises themselves, and the pupils were vertical slits like a cat's eyes. She had no eyebrows, either, just reddish dots at roughly where her eyebrows would start. "You are one freaky-looking girl, you know that right? Not that it matters if I call you that or anything, because you can't understand a word of what I'm saying to you, can you?" Blink blink. "Nope. Not a word of it. So I'm essentially talking to myself. What does that say about me?"

As she continued to ponder how to go about making first contact with someone who couldn't understand much more than pantomime, the decision was taken from Rachel. Holding out one white-gloved hand, the girl opened her mouth and let out a soft rumble. The noise was vaguely feline to Rachel's ears, and definitely sounded inquisitive. After thinking about it for a moment, she reached out and took the girl's hand.

Rachel found herself jerked forward and was just reaching for her magic when she hit the girl's chest and found herself wrapped in a pair of strong arms. Then she froze as the far-taller girl leaned down and… sniffed her? What the hell was that about? As the alien lifted her head, Rachel opened her mouth to complain, only to be cut off as a pair of lips came down on her own.

What the hell what the hell what the hell… hey, it felt pretty good. Rachel stopped struggling, wrapping her arms around the alien's waist as they kissed. Pretty good was an understatement, actually. Given she was a grey girl with purple hair and red eyes, guys (and girls) hadn't really lined up to kiss her in the past. It wasn't as awkward as she would have thought her first kiss might be either. If she had to try and put words to it… it was almost like the stuff of fairytales. True love, and all that bullshit. This warm, tingling sensation of… almost completion.

They continued on for almost a minute before coming up for air and Rachel found herself staring into green eyes that… while still incredibly alien, seemed to possess a spark that hadn't been there a moment ago. Not sentience; she'd had that. But… understanding? And after their initial troubles, Rachel was incredibly surprised when the girl opened her mouth again and English emerged. "My name is Koriand'r. Will you be my friend, Raven Rachel Roth?"
