A commission for :iconjoehundredaire:'s story Blue Belle. As seen in a few other pictures I've done for him, the universe's Spider-Clan is a bit more tightly-knit than in anything Marvel's done, with Peter Parker working side-by-side with Felicia Hardy (Black Cat), Jessica Drew (Recluse), Julia Carpenter (Arachne), and an original character named Astrid Jansen (Chelicera). But they can't do it without some support staff, namely their public relations specialist Mary Jane Watson and their resident mad scientist Gwen Stacy.

I like the differences you've made in their body types. The freckles are cute too.

Thank you. I'd gotten lazy and was just photocopying bodytypes and faces in my work. Doing this for :iconjoehundredaire: helped me push myself back to making characters unique.

It's derivative of her teammate Astrid's costume, which is in turn a desaturated version of Ultimate Jessica Drew's costume. She thinks the team needs a PR specialist because neither Jessica nor Julia wants to be the public face of the team, they all agree that Felicia and Astrid should NEVER be allowed to talk to reporters, Gwen is distinctive in her disability, and Peter is "pretty much that 'Socially Awkward Penguin' meme come to life". At the same time, she doesn't want to become a minor celebrity and harassed at school or in the streets, so some degree of disguise is necessary. This is the result. Or one of the results; there's also a black version mentioned in the story that has stockings that are black with white webbing on them.

Yeah I remember Jessica Drew from the the Ultimate Spider-man clone saga. I vaguely remember the original clone saga, and I did like the twist of having a female clone (although I did very much dislike how the Ultimate was rewriting a lot of stuff from Spidey's story arch). Seemed like a nice nod to Julia Carpenter's Spider Woman costume.

And I must compliment you on all your spider-characters. I've always been a big Spidey fan and really am interested to see your creation of you Spidey-gal story.

It's been interesting trying to weave the different characters' origins together in a way that really does make them a family but - at the same time - isn't something as simple as "same story with four names rotated through".

Peter: Bit by the spider from the field trip à la the canon events of Spider-Man
Felicia: Just a rich girl with toys
Jessica: Subjected to a spider bite by HYDRA; spider in question was created by them reverse-engineering a spider from the batch that bit Peter.
Julia: Bitten by one of the spiders from Columbia University; Jessica alludes to either AIM, the Commission on Superhuman Activities, or the World Security Council being behind the spider mysteriously making its way to Julia. In Julia's case, it is in fact the Commission just like in Earth-616.
Astrid: Bitten by one of the spiders from Columbia University; Jessica alludes to either AIM, the Commission on Superhuman Activities, or the World Security Council being behind the spider mysteriously making its way to Astrid. In Astrid's case, the WSC was responsible for a similar reason as the Commission in a case of "left hand doesn't know what the right is doing".

I might have MJ pick up some gear at some point or add another OC so we have three teams of two (or two teams of three) for street deployment, but that's way down the road.

I've really grown fond on Felicia because she has no abilities, and was a really effective cat-burglar that looked so good as she plied her skills.

With the "left hand doesn't know what the right is doing," isn't that true with half of the stories being written about various agencies?

Pretty much, yeah. :)

And my Felicia is... interesting. She's an albino who got herself *ahem* augmented because, as she puts it, she'd rather have guys staring at her chest than staring at her hair/eyes. From there, she realizes that money may not be able to buy happiness but it can buy a lot of cool things, and the idea of becoming Rule 63 Bruce Wayne comes to her. Thankfully Peter runs into her and they team up before we get like, the Cat Lair or the Catmobile or anything truly outrageous, but she's much closer to Paris Hilton or other celebutantes than to E-616 Felicia's origin.

That sounds partly similar to the anime Spiderman Black Cat where she was augmented and rebuilt as a cyborg by the Kingpin.
But I do like the concept behind your Black Cat. Although to be fair in some interpretations of Felecia she is still high class.

Well, most have her starting (and staying) high class. I just meant she's different in that there's no super-soldier serum ('90s cartoon), no augmentation (anime), no X-gene (Earth-1610), no cat burglary or rape or daddy issues (Earth-616), et cetera. Just a rich girl playing around with the money she has access to for her own amusement.
